The veteran

You hear it all the time.  Veteran this, veteran that.  Veteran owned.  Oh, I just want to help out the veteran owned business.  I get it.  Hell, I too am a veteran.  However, the term veteran does not define a person.  There are good veterans and there are shitty veterans.  So don’t just go by the title of veteran. 

I have been screwed over royally by several veterans.  Just keep in mind that people are people and a title doesn’t define someone’s personality, integrity, or character.  I have been ripped off to the tune of eight thousand dollars.  Then you get the veteran that lives in a million-dollar home and has a Maserati, and want’s a discount on a one-thousand-dollar job.  Even better, the veteran that has full pension, high paying civilian job, six thousand square foot house and want’s a discount on a 500 dollar job.

You also get the ones that say they want to help their fellow veterans but they want the absolute cheapest estimate possible. It can be challenging.  You feel a sense of honor and comradery and a desire to help but the fellow veteran. They will pass your bid over just to hire someone for 200 dollars.  

In six years, I have worked with a lot of veterans and in my own personal experience I have had worse luck than better luck. There are many that are lacking in integrity.
